FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions I’m most often asked, whether by email, at conventions, or on social media. I’ve tried to keep things clear and upfront, so please have a read before getting in touch, as you may find what you’re looking for right here.

General

At the moment, I’m not taking on commissions. My schedule is focused on conventions, merchandise, and ongoing personal projects, and I want to make sure I’m giving those my full attention.

You’re very welcome to share ideas, and I genuinely appreciate the enthusiasm. While I can’t promise to work on suggestions, I do enjoy hearing what people connect with and get excited about.

Yes, selectively. If you feel your project or brand aligns well with my work and values, feel free to get in touch with details and I’ll take a look when I can.

Email (gilles.bone@gmail.com) is always the best place for formal enquiries. For quicker questions or casual chats, social media is fine, though replies may take a little longer during busy periods.

Conventions & Events

I regularly attend conventions across the UK. My upcoming events are always announced on social media and listed clearly on the home page of my website once confirmed, so that’s the best place to check for the most up-to-date information.

Absolutely. I’m always happy to chat and sign items at my table, as long as things aren’t too hectic at the time.

Some items are convention exclusives or debut at events first. If they do come online later, it’s usually announced, but not everything returns once it sells out.

Artwork Use & Permissions

Yes. I ask that you please purchase the artwork first as a way of supporting my work, and I’d love to see the finished tattoo if you’re happy to share it.

Sharing is fine as long as proper credit is given and the artwork isn’t altered or cropped to remove my signature. A tag or link back to my account is always appreciated.

For personal, non-commercial use, this is generally fine with clear credit. Please don’t use my work in ways that imply endorsement or official involvement.

In most cases, no. My artwork may not be used, reproduced, or sold for commercial purposes without written permission.

That said, I have sold usage rights and licenses in the past. This is a formal process that involves discussion, clear terms, and a written contract to protect both parties. If you have a genuine commercial enquiry, please get in touch with full details so it can be discussed properly.

I ship internationally, however I am currently not shipping to the United States due to ongoing tariff issues. Once the tariff situation implemented under Donald Trump changes, US orders will reopen.

Shipping costs elsewhere are set by postal services and couriers and are unfortunately outside of my control.

Products, Shop & Orders

I create and sell T-shirts, pins, and other merchandise inspired by pop culture and my own original work.

Some designs are limited, while others may be restocked depending on demand and availability. If something is coming back, I’ll usually say so.

Yes, I ship worldwide. International shipping costs are set by postal services and unfortunately outside of my control.

I do not sell high-resolution digital files of my artwork. However, I am currently considering offering digital versions of my colouring pages in the future. If this becomes available, it will be announced on my website and social media.

Yes, but these are handled manually. I’ve previously ordered T-shirts in specific sizes and colours, as well as fulfilled wholesale and bulk orders.

There isn’t a streamlined system for this, so the best thing to do is email me with the details of what you’re looking for. In many cases, we can work something out.

Original Work & Projects

The Cubbieverse is my original IP, centred around Cubbie and his friends. It’s a soft, colourful world that explores kindness, self-acceptance, emotional growth, and learning to be comfortable with who you are.

Each character brings their own personality, strengths, and flaws, reflecting different parts of the journey people go through in real life. It’s a deeply personal project for me, and one that continues to grow alongside my work.

Yes. It’s a long-term project that continues to grow through new artwork, characters, and ideas.

The honest answer is that fan art tends to sell more, and since this is my full-time job, I have to prioritise what allows me to make a living.

That doesn’t mean I care any less about my original work, or put less effort into it. Both fan art and original pieces are created with the same level of care and intention, they simply serve different purposes within my work.

Podcast & Community

The Convention Creatives podcast is a project where I talk openly about convention life, Artist Alley, creative careers, and the realities behind running a creative business.

It reflects the same values that guide my artwork, honesty, community, respect for fellow creatives, and sharing knowledge that isn’t always talked about openly. The podcast is very much an extension of my work and my place within the convention scene.

Yes. Suggestions are always welcome, and guest opportunities are considered when they feel like a good fit.

Advice & Values

I’m always happy to share advice when I can. I’ve benefited greatly from others’ guidance over the years and believe in paying that forward.

Creating work with care, respecting fellow artists, and building a supportive and inclusive community all matter deeply to me.

Beyond that, what I value most is creating special memories for people through my work. If something I’ve made makes someone smile, reminds them of a moment, or becomes something they genuinely cherish, that means everything to me.

AI & Ethics

No. I’ve been doing this job long before generative AI existed, and I have no need or desire for it to be part of my creative process.

My work comes from years of practice, learning, trial and error, and personal growth as an artist. That process is important to me. I care deeply about the connection between the artist, the work, and the people who engage with it, and I don’t believe generative AI has a place in that relationship.

I strongly believe in protecting artists’ rights, labour, and creative ownership. Artists should have control over how their work is used, and consent should always come first.

Support & Miscellaneous

No. While I appreciate the interest, I don’t work for free or in exchange for exposure.

Sharing my work, engaging with posts, recommending me to others, or simply stopping by to say hello at a convention all mean a great deal.
