The concept for this piece came from my lovely friend and extremely talented cosplayer, Crystal Reed, who drew a Star Wars Rebel Alliance logo made of roses using a sharpie onto her wrist. She shared a photo of it with all her friends on Facebook and I was instantly inspired to try and make a rendition of my own. I asked for her permission of course and a little over 3 years later, here we are!
Thank you Crystal! And make sure to take a moment and check out her cosplay Facebook Page right here!
I decided to work on this after the passing of beloved actress Carrie Fisher. Fisher played the role of Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars movie franchise and her loss was felt by millions of fans around the globe. I felt it was my duty to give tribute to a woman who not only played such an iconic role forever remembered in Pop Culture, but also brought hope to the hearts of many in the ways of progress and breaking stereotypes.
So here is to you, Carrie Fisher. A bouquet of roses that I may only hope for it to be fitting for a galactic Princess. Fitting for a rebel alliance general. Fitting for a symbol of hope for all of us. May we, in your absence, never lose hope.
Please feel free to leave any feedback below. I do hope you enjoy it. And if you do, don’t forget to check out the t-shirt version at my store! Thank you.
