I have to admit that I took Acid Betty’s elimination from Ru Paul’s Drag Race this past week quite to heart. I didn’t watch the Untucked episode, any of my favorite YouTube reviews or “Fashion Photo Review” until days later. It just really bummed me out to know one of my favorites had been sent packing so quickly after being in the top 3 almost each week before that.
As I mentioned in my previous piece of her, I see a lot of myself in Betty and it really saddened me to see her time on Season 8 come to an end. Never the less, I have no doubt in my mind that the journey for this immensely talented queen is far from over. She is now drag royalty, she has now found her people, her people have found her and I am proud to say that I am one of them.
I truly hope that our journeys will cross paths and in the meantime, I’m ready to show you all some Acidtude! In this neon based abstract portrait, I tried to capture the “no bullshit” fierce presence everyone seems to be fearing in Acid. I am quite happy with the result, despite the deranged look in her eyes. I think a little crazy suits Acid Betty fine.
